Marma"duke"
The life of Marmaduke

Today was alittle better

November 17th 2010 in Uncategorized

We’re on day 6 now, going on seven. He was doing ok until last night. He just kept having episodes of loud spontaneous yelping. So he’s got an appt. in the morning to check on everything. Today his meds were lowered which had him acting alittle better. Good enough that he decided to snoop in mommys closet with his two older sisters and surprise find the xmas presents. I of course couldn’t get too mad at him, seeing as though he thought he did a great job. Think it’s time we found a better hiding spot.

Glad to hear he’s doing better – hopefully the vet will be able to help. It kinda sounds like phantom pain – lots of dogs here did well on gabapentin (I’m probably mangling that name) for phantom pain. Try searching in the forums for phantom pain to see. It’s a good sign he’s snooping in your closet! 🙂
We’ll keep fingers and paws crossed for your boy!!

Poor Maradukie!
Sounds like phantom pains! Ask your vet for a RX of Gabapentin. It should knock it right out within a few days. You may have to insist on it from the vet since they aren’t sometimes as familiar with it and it may have to prescribed by them at the regular pharmacy (it shouldn’t be expensive)

Poor dude for sure.

Good to get him checked out.

Come on, Marmaduke, we’re rootin’ for you!

You definitly can’t get mad at them when they do something naughty because it is so good to see them spunky enough to be rascals.

My dog Lyndon had his surgery the same day as Marmaduke, and he is also having some strange night time behaviors… maybe its just this stage of the recovery. It’s good to get him checked out to be sure.

Just remember, you’re almost halfway through the recovery… almost there!!!

How is Duke doing? Fortis had a couple nights where he screamed out in pain. It was about a week after his surgery. It was unnerving for sure. I pray he and the family are doing well.
